The National (on National Ave)
Reading a newspaper over breakfast and coffee is one of my favorite things to do. Changing work locations over the past few months has left me looking for a new spot.
Thanks to a recent write up in onmilwaukee.com, I decided to check out The National.
It’s such a fantastic little cafe with cool rock show posters on the wall, cozy seating, great service and, most importantly, very good food. After three visits, I’ve become a big fan of this place.
On my first stop, I had the breakfast burrito. It came exactly the way I like it - eggs, black beans, cheese, red and green peppers, served with guacamole and salsa. I’d put it right up there with the Hi Hat’s brunch burrito, my other favorite breakfast burrito. On my second stop, I ordered an omelet. Nothing earth-shattering, but still pretty good.
Taking advantage of such beautiful day, I decided to venture over for my first lunch visit today. I had it in my mind that I wanted chili, but the counter attendant convinced me to try the mulligatawny soup. I’m a sucker for most things with curry powder, but this stuff was amazing.
Here’s the onmilwaukee article that caught my attention.
