Top Chef New York Final Four
Carla, Fabio, Hosea, and Stefan make the finals in New Orleans. Who’s going to win the title “Top Chef”? Let me break it down.
Fabio - Without question the most likable contestant this season. He’s just a good Italian boy who learned to cook from his grandma - the best cook he ever knew. He’s the “hey! I’m just happy to be here” contestant. Fabio hasn’t impressed me very often this season, but I’m still pulling for the guy. Odds to win: 5-1
Carla - The very excitable former model (?!) has a kooky demeanor that’s made for reality TV. The judges have taken a liking to her for her simplistic dishes. I wonder how long she’ll be able to get away with “keeping it simple”. Odds to win: 3-1
Hosea - This guy came on strong in the beginning, then seemed to fall apart as the season progressed. A brief romantic interlude with fellow contestant Leah threw him off his game. The guy works in a seafood restaurant and flubbed the seafood challenge. I don’t think things look too good for Hosea. Odds to win: 8-1
Stefan - He’s the prototype for my favorite kind of reality TV contestant. The guy is a total dick. He talks shit to everyone, but he can back it up. The amazingly talented prick, Stefan is obviously so much better than the rest of the field. He had a misstep with overcooking the fish that nearly cost him, but other than that, he’s been flawless. It’s not a lock, but it’s pretty damn close. Odds to win: 7-5
OK, finally got around to watching this last night. I was not surprised at all about Leah getting the boot, although Stefan sort of deserved it this week. Unless he completely falls apart or something unepected happens, he’s the winner.
Agree about Fabio - likeable, funny, and average. I haven’t seen him do anything that I couldn’t do.
Carla freaks the hell out of me. It’s those bug eyes. I can’t believe that she’s a former model, but she has been doing well lately. You don’t have to do 6 different crazy dishes if you can do 1 perfect one - as former Cobra-Kai stooge and previouslyn dismissed Jeff would tell you.
